• APPS Trustees and Executive Council Members would like to wish all our members, affiliates, volunteers and supporters a very happy Eid-ul-Adha. May Allah (SWT) make it easier for us to sacrifice for the poor and needy and fill our lives with happiness... Ameen!

• APPS still has 4 vacant Executive Member positions, one in each of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Quetta and Peshawar. If you are an enthusiastic doctor based in any of the above areas, who cares about the society and would like to make a real difference to the lives of others then we would love to hear from you.

• APPS Trustees hosted an Iftar Dinner on Saturday 20 August. This was attended by over 70 guests with representatives from Hep C Trust, Nishtar Medical College Alumni Association, Punjab Medical College Old Student Association, Pakistan Thalasaemia Society, Mobile Plasmapheresis Project and the Liver Foundation. Following a delicious Iftar meal, Haris Ifraz, the helicopter flight winner was presented his prize and short presentations were made by the guests from Pakistan regarding their current projects.

• HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY: As we celebrate this day, let us also reflect back and see what went wrong. May this be the year of change we so desperately need to improve the lives of ordinary, hard working and sincere Pakistanis.

• As the London riots continue to escalate beyond imagination, APPS extends its' support to any of its members who may be affected. Please contact us if you should require any help. May Allah protect us all... Ameen!

• The winner of our charity fundraising helicopter flight is Haris Ifraz. His guess of 450 was closest to the actual number of 467 sweets in the box. Many Congratulations...Enjoy your flight!

• Nishtarian Society’s Annual Dinner: The Nishtarian Sociey UK warmly invites you to their annual dinner and ghazal evening with Ali Pervez Mehdi(USA)  on Saturday  28 January @ Sachas Hotel, Manchester M4 1SH at 6 pm . There will be a crèche and magic show for children. Adjacent parking will be free for the attendees.  Tickets are £20 / person , children under 10 are free. • APPS UK will be holding its annual dinner on Saturday 10 December, 6:30 p.m. at Nawaab Banqueting Hall, Manchester. Please make a note of this date in your diary.
   
• Dr Asghar Nawaz from London will represent APPS UK at the live appeal for the ‘Pakistan Recovery Fund’ launched by Prince Charles. This appeal will be telecast worldwide on ARY Digital and ARY QTV on Friday 04 November from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Other guests on this programme include Mr Salman Iqbal (CEO ARY TV), Asif Iqbal (Ex-Cricketer), James Caan and Lord Nazir Ahmed. Please do not forget to tune in...!
   
• APPS is setting up a Health Awareness Stall at the Birmingham Eid Mela on Sunday 4th September. Please do come and meet us on the stall if you are around.
   
• Three seminars are being organised for the begining of October in Pakistan entitled 'Postgraduate Training Opportunities in the UK'. One of the seminars will be in Karachi and the other in Lahore. Further details will be announced soon.
