MEMBERSHIP:

The membership of the Association of Pakistani Physicians and Surgeons (APPS) of the United Kingdom is open to all medical students and doctors of Pakistani heritage, irrespective of their place of study.

As an active member you will:
  • have access to the contact details of other members (subject to their consent)

  • be entitled to special discounts on a variety of services e.g. eating out, car insurance, flights, holidays etc.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIPS:

A) ACTIVE MEMBER:

The active members will have a right to vote in the election and hold an office.

  • Standard Membership: Doctors in all grades of employment will pay a membership fee of £15 / year

  • Lifetime Membership: will be granted to those active members of the Association who pay 15 years of the current annual fee either in one lump sum or as instalments within one year

  • Spouse of an Active Member: who is also a doctor will enjoy a subsidised membership fee of £10 / year

  • Retired Membership: Doctors retired from NHS and currently living in the UK will pay a subsidised membership fee of £10 / year


B) AFFILIATE MEMBER:

Includes all doctors who live outside the United Kingdom or those taking the PLAB test or looking for a job in the UK.

Doctors living in the United Kingdom who do not wish to take up active membership but support the Association objectives may opt for affiliate membership.

This category is exempt from membership fee. Such members will have all the privileges of active membership and can participate in all of the activities except the right to vote and hold office.


C) STUDENT MEMBER:

Medical students can register under the following subcategories. There is no membership fee but student members may hold office on specified seats and vote for student representatives in APPS UK.

  • Medical Student in the UK

  • Medical Student in Pakistan

  • Medical Student of Pakistani Heritage studying in another Country


D) HONORARY MEMBER:

The Association may appoint any person as an honorary member distinguished for services or achievements in medicine or the allied sciences, or who has rendered other services of unusual value to the Association or humanity. These members may serve on or chair committees or task forces of the Association and participate in all of its activities, but will not have the right to vote.

The membership fee will be payable by an annual standing order. Any active member recommending APPS UK to 5 other doctors, who subsequently join the association as active members, will have his / her annual membership fee refunded at the end of 12 months.
